Gratitude

Gratitude means being thankful, ready to show appreciation, and to return kindness. The gratitude I have experienced has made me patient and humble, I look to the future and to continuing to believe each day will always be better than the last. I am grateful for my support network. I know living with an ostomy can be challenging at times. It may be hard, and it can be a rocky journey.

Today I am making sure people see me for who I truly am. As a long time ostomate I just want to encourage others with the same or similar circumstances to keep moving forward in the process and they will see progress. There will be good days and bad days. It is up to the individual to make sure the good days outweigh the bad. It is a choice we all must make living with this new-norm by learning how the body functions, keeping a record of your food intake by journaling and being comfortable with your pouching system. This process can help with building your confidence and self-esteem, which in turn, will assist you with getting back to some of your daily activities.

Learning to have gratitude led me to be patient and motivated. I’M LOVING WHERE I AM IN MY LIFE TODAY, I’M VERY GRATEFUL AND BLESSED. I AM WONDERFULLY AND BEAUTIFULLY MADE. I choose to live and not just exist.

Let us CELEBRATE ALL OSTOMATES on Ostomy Day October 5, 2024, at our 1st Ostomy Branch. Let us celebrate life together.
